Course Outline
Introduction
This virtual classroom seminar is aimed at all housing professionals in England who deal with making and challenging homeless decisions.
This session will review the statutory framework, including:
- The initial homeless application
- Interim duties
- Relief duties
- Priority need
- Intentional homelessness
- The main housing duty
- Internal reviews
- Statutory appeals in the county court
What You Will Learn
This live and interactive session will cover the following:
- Homeless Applications: Minott v Cambridge CC
- Intentional homelessness following Omar v Hackney LBC and R (on the application of Roman) v Southwark LBC
- The changes introduced by the Domestic Abuse Act 2021
- The main housing duty in light of the decisions in R (Elkundi) v Birmingham CC and Paley v Waltham Forest LBC
