Introduction
This new virtual classroom seminar will examine recent topics for professional advisors to be aware of when taking instructions from the client, when making a will and when advising personal representatives in a probate/administration process.
What You Will Learn
This live and interactive session will cover the following:
- Dealing with charitable gifts in light of the Supreme Court case of Routier v RCC:
- The steps practitioners need to now take to ensure that charitable legacies qualify for IHT relief
- The extent of IHT charitable exemption in the wake of Routier v RCC
- What does it mean for existing legacies?
- What is new in undue influence in light of Wales v Dixon and Coles v Reynolds?
- Nil rate band clauses and interpretation by personal representatives - an analysis of Beasant v Royal Commonwealth Society for the Blind
- Electronic wills - Exploration of the unusual case of Cooper v Chapman where an electronic copy of a will was found to be valid despite the original not being available
