The New Building Safety Act

Introduction

The Building Safety Act 2022 received Royal Assent on 28 April 2022.

It is a complex piece of legislation, with many offshoots of secondary legislation. It is going to have significant impact on the construction industry, how it procures, designs, builds and manages assets. The focus on post-Grenfell action and accountability is enshrined. Calls to action from the Ministry for Levelling Up, backed by the Inquiry and original Hackitt Report recommendations, combine to be strong driving forces for change.
