Introduction

Artificial Intelligence (‘AI’) is an exciting growth area with the potential to shape all our lives in such diverse technology areas as social media, image processing, finance, automotive and medicine.

Investment and research into AI continue to increase at a rapid rate, and correspondingly more and more patent applications are being filed to protect this technology.

This new virtual classroom seminar will look at the how AI inventions are examined by the UK Intellectual Property Office and the European Patent Office, and review case studies of successful and unsuccessful cases to extract key learning points.

This will be drawn together to review best practice strategies for drafting and claiming AI inventions in the UK and Europe.

Finally, there will be a short discussion surrounding AI inventorship.

The session is aimed at those with a general understanding of patents and computer implemented inventions.
