Course Outline
Introduction
Following UK Government promises to ‘build back better’ and to invest in the construction and engineering industry, we explore the cornerstone for projects in action: the Housing Grants Act and the Scheme for Construction Contracts.
Cash flow, described by Sir Michael Latham as ‘lifeblood’, remains the central driver for activity, and the backbone for industry relations and contracts.
This webinar will outline the payment rights and responsibilities afforded to ‘construction contracts’ and the requirements for administering the law’s minimum standards. Contractual missteps and errors will be stress-tested, so those who deal with payment know what to do, when, and why. We will also explore deficiencies in contracts, and where the Scheme will be used in default.
Finally, we will look at recent case law applying the Act and Scheme, see them in action, and learn applicable lessons.
The webinar is designed for individuals who work in, or advise on, construction contracts and/or are responsible for commercial, finance and contract administration.
