Introduction
The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 contain a series of prohibitions on unfair commercial practices in the areas of advertising and marketing.
Breach of these regulations can lead to enforcement action - for example, social media influencers failing to disclose that they are being paid to promote a product.
The Enforcement and Modernisation Directive, which is due to be implemented from May 2022, updates and extends the existing rules and sets out increased fining powers for regulators - up to 4% of turnover in the Member State affected.
This webinar summarises the existing rules and outlines the key changes that are due to apply from May 2022.
